Regions of the Park

Elkwater

Elkwater is a full service townsite located on the Elkwater Lakeshore. The park Visitor Centre is open year round and offers information services, maps, road conditions, campground updates, trail guides, educational displays as well as a gift shop. The Visitor Centre is located just off Lakeshore Drive and 4th Avenue, approximately 2 km from the townsite entrance. A variety of interpretive programs and activities are held in the park year round and operate out of the Visitor Centre. The Visitor Centre rents out GPS units, nature activity packs for children and fishing equipment.

There are two restaurants, a service station, laundromat and a small grocery store to serve your needs. The Elkwater Lake Lodge and Resort offers resort accommodation, conference facilities and dining room and lounge.  The majority of campgrounds are located within or near the Elkwater townsite. The campground check-in station is located one block past the Visitor Centre along Lakeshore Drive and is open May to September. Campgrounds are available year round on self registration.

Elkwater Lake is a spring-fed lake, perfect for water activities! All types of boats are permitted on Elkwater Lake. There are two boat launch areas in the townsite: West End Day Use (below Firerock campground) and Elkwater Marina (beach area). Elkwater Lake has naturally occurring Northern Pike and Yellow Perch. Fishing equipment can be rented from the Visitor Centre. Fishing licenses are available for purchase from the Elkwater Fuel Stop. A sand beach with designated swimming area is located at the Elkwater marina. No lifeguards are on duty; swim at your own risk. The marina offers a beach concession (burgers, ice cream) throughout the summer, bike and boat rental, washroom facilities, playgrounds and an outside shower.  Marina stalls are available for daily, weekly, monthly and seasonal rental from the Visitor Centre. The bike and boat rental offers canoes, kayaks, paddle boats, water bikes, tandem bikes and mountain bikes for rent.
